Garage Sale and Zero1 Festival

Monday, September 20th, 2010

Last weekend we held one of our annual money-raising events: the Space Cookies garage sale! We received an incredible amount of donations from Space Cookies families, from clothes to books to silly hats and a giant pink stuffed bunny.
We staffed the garage sale all day Saturday, sold a lot of stuff, and had a great opportunity to tell interested passers-by about our team.
When the money was tallied at the end of the day, we had made over 2000 dollars! This was an incredible turnout for our garage sale and will be a huge help to our budget as we move into build season.
In other news, this weekend, the Space Cookies (along with several other FIRST teams) participated in the Zero1 Festival in San Jose, a celebration of art and technology. BAE sponsored a FIRST display and we were able to set up part of the game field and demonstrate our robot to visitors to the festival. It was an incredible event and we’re proud to have been a part of it.

We also spent a Saturday a few weeks ago helping other volunteers clean out and organize a storage locker for WRRF (Western Regional Robotics Forum), an organization that supports west coast FIRST teams and organizes CalGames, among other events. It was great to help out and get everyone prepared for CalGames, which we are all really looking forward to.
